Most of us have heard of forgiving other people. Jesus talks about forgiveness in the Bible. We have heard that we should not carry around resentment or anger but instead release it by forgiving the person we are angry at. But this can be difficult to do, especially if those angry thoughts and feelings "take us over" and possess us to the point where we can't turn them off.

If you notice, when you are stuck in this mode of judgment and blame, you don't feel very good physically. And the more you focus on these thoughts and feelings, the stronger they get and the more you feel bad. Once you are able to stop you feel relieved, even though you may feel that the circumstances fully justify your thoughts and feelings about it.


I have a client who recently actually made himself ill from his own anger at a situation. His body wouldn't digest food well anymore and he started losing weight, because his body couldn't absorb the nutrients it needed from the food he ate.

As we discussed what was going on, he saw that he was harming his own body by his thoughts and feelings. I suggested he forgive himself for his self-judgment, in which he felt foolish for having put himself into similar situations over and over again. He applied self-forgiveness as the specific technique I shared with him and he immediately felt better and was able to stop his thoughts and feelings from controlling him.

Over the next few weeks he kept applying SF whenever those thoughts and feelings came up to release them and stop them and he slowly regained his health and energy back assisted by the use of some supplements.
